Meet The Instructors

Jasmin Jahal
Jasmin Jahal is known internationally for her creative, innovative and passionate expertise in classical and folkloric dance of the Middle East. Having mentored under master choreographer Ibrahim Farrah, Jasmin Jahal carries on the “Bobby” legacy, and she is excited to share that with you in the Sakkara program.

Katie Baker
Katie is a Peoria based bellydancer and owner of Artemis Studios. Her first love is tribal improv but she also studies and teaches other forms, including raks sharki, folkloric, and fusion. Her favorite prop is sword and this year she is excited to teach a zils workshop and a partner combo workshop

Nishi Roothaan
Nishi has been studying classical oriental and Middle Eastern folkloric style dance from for over 20 years, with a particular interest and focus on the physicality of the dance and the incorporation of proper technique to enhance the beauty of the dance. She currently teaches bellydance at UIC and is excited to share her passion with you in the drum solo workshop this fall.

Madhu Nayar
Madhu is a Chicagoland dancer who specializes in classical oriental dance and traditional folkloric dances of the Middle East. She began her dance journey in 2010 and has been honored to perform in such prestigious locations as the Chicago Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, various multi-cultural festivals and programs, and she looks forward to seeing you this fall in Peoria!
